A new CD recorded by the Black Dyke Band, conducted by Prof. Nicholas Childs, has been released entitled Gothique Fantasy. Dedicated entirely to the music of Andrew Wainwright, it has been recorded on the Doyen label.

From cinematic narratives to expressive solos, this album offers a definitive look at Andrew's contemporary brass repertoire. The collection showcases a wide range of music, including a fanfare prelude, major works, hymn tune arrangements, and a processional.

Highlights of the release include five premiere recordings as well as the 2026 Nationals of Great Britain Section 1 test-piece, Beyond the Falls - The Smoke that Thunders.

Gothique Fantasy – Inspired by the reopening of Notre‑Dame after the 2019 fire, this tour de force title track draws on themes from Boëllmann’s popular Suite Gothique. A gripping, virtuosic showpiece that captures the resilience and spirit of Notre‑Dame.

My Soul, Rejoice – This cornet solo is a spirited and celebratory work designed to showcase the technical agility and vocal lyricism of the instrument. Here it’s brought to life by Richard Marshall – marking the end of his 20-year tenure as Principal Cornet of Black Dyke Band.

Recorded by the world-renowned Black Dyke Band under the direction of Prof. Nicholas Childs, this gripping album engages the listener from the very first note.
