Andrew has won the Grimethorpe Colliery Band's 1st Annual Composition Competition with his work Fallen Souls. The work was one of 105 entries from around the world. 17 semi-finalists were named, before five finalists were decided upon by judges Dr Liz Lane and Dr Jack Stamp. The results were announced at the band's concert in Barnsley on Sunday 16th July 2023. Andrew wins the prize of £1,000.
Fallen Souls explores the theme of human fallibility, representing the many
temptations that surround us. The band plans to record the piece along with several other of the finalists' works in a new CD.
